What to Pack in Your Hospital Bag

Updated: Aug 13, 2020

There are hundreds of lists out there, advising you on what you should pack in your hospital bag. From my own experience, here's what I packed:

  • Nursing bra {my favorite: Body Silk Seamless Yoga Nursing Bra}

  • Nursing gown(s) {my favorite: Motherhood Maternity - Essential Nursing Nightgown}

  • Robe {used for walks down the hall or to visit your little in the nursery}

  • Personal care items {face wash, toothbrush/paste, deodorant, etc.}

  • Outfits for baby {zipped sleepers, basic white onesies}

  • Clothes to go home in {my advice: don't try to squeeze into your pre-pregnancy clothes just yet...}

  • Socks/underwear {I used the hospital-provided socks/mesh underwear, but you can use whatever you feel comfortable with}

  • Healthy snacks {trail mix, crackers, dried fruit, Larabars - I had them both during labor and postpartum}

  • CHAPSTICK {this is a MUST - your lips will be so dry}

  • Propel powder packets to add to water {help replenish electrolytes}

  • Long charging cord for your phone

  • Wireless speaker if you want to listen to music

  • Diffuser and essential oils {I used lavender and balance}

  • Camera {two must-have photos: side view of your belly the day you go to the hospital & a picture of you and your partner before you give birth}

  • Optional: breast pump {you'll more than likely be able to use the hospital-provided pump, but my personal pump was a different brand, so I wanted to be sure I knew how to use it properly}
